If you want to compete with Google or Facebook or other big companies, you need to understand that a) they are actually constrained by the law and b) the only computer bigger than their computer, is "everybody else's computer."

Radical decentralization + build software that has features the companies cannot offer for legal reasons.

We just have to be willing to go where the big companies can't. The more censorship there is of "normal" content, the more opportunities there are to do just that.

When you invest in a surveillance capitalist like Twitter & help them build their platform by making apps for them, using their APIs, etc., know that they’ll have your back. And by that I mean they’ll throw you under the bus the first chance they get.

We’ve all made the mistake at one time (heck, I made both a Twitter & Facebook app using their APIs and thought I was helping build the “open web” ‘cos I trusted Tim O’Reilly).

Just avoid it next time.

Any non-geek buying a win10 pc and clicking through will be sending a *mountain* of info to redmond.

Even a geek can't stop it entirely during install on a business pc. The only 100% cure is to cfg the router I suppose.

For a friend I'd... <screech!> ... well, I wouldn't let a friend use the thing or any ms code.

Això dels jocs olímpics, igual que les expos internacionals o la patranya del fòrum de les cultures, ja ho hauríem de tenir pillat: són forats negres de diners que van a especuladors, a invertir-los en una "marca" que, de nou, beneficiarà a uns pocs, que aprofundeix en la terciarització i precarietat, etc. En el cas de Tarragona sembla que ni la marca 🙈

I propose a new ideology: #antifatalism

It's about the affirmative belief that humans can change the things that can in principle be changed by humans: Climate change, War, Poverty, etc. We don't have to be resigned to the idea that misery is neverending.

There's no natural law (not even entropy) that says we cannot fix these things. There's only us.

(Note that antifatalism does not imply belief in free will.)
